California’s new 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards went into effect this year. Over the remainder of 2017, the California Energy Commission is referring local governments, developers and consultants to a series of free day-long trainings. For example, California building inspectors can register to attend “2016 Title 24 Part 6 Essentials - Nonresidential Standards for Plans Examiners and Building Inspectors.”
The nonresidential energy efficiency standards seminar will be held eight more times before the year’s end in the cities listed below. The training will provide plans examiners and building inspectors with the knowledge and skills needed to more quickly and effectively enforce the 2016 energy code for nonresidential projects. Energy Code ACE is assisting the state in energy efficiency standards trainings to help local governments, architects, energy consultants, developers and other practitioners implement and maintain the new building and appliance energy efficiency standards throughout California buildings.
Additional Title 24, Part 6 2016 Standard courses -- for both residential and non-residential applications -- are also available. Flyers for all of the courses can be downloaded from the Energy Code ACE’s registration page.
Educational fact sheets on various aspects of the new energy efficiency standards -- such as nonresidential lighting, fenestration, HERS -- are also available for free download.
