Eligible organizations in Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wyoming can apply for Chesapeake Energy grants that fund projects in four different areas:
- STEM education
- Environment
- Emergency and disaster response
- Community development
Applicants should choose the best category to apply for a Chesapeake Energy grant:
Charitable: A request a financial donation
In-kind: A request for materials retired from the corporate lifecycle
According to past Securities and Exchange Commission filings, charitable donations reached a high of $31 million in 2011, though were reduced by half in 2013 due to spending cuts. Charitable donations vary annually.
Organizations applying for a donation must reside within the service territory of Chesapeake Energy.
Grant applications are accepted three times are year. Applications are due by Feb. 1 for the next submission cycle, and winners will be notified on or near March 1.
