The ongoing renovation of Fairmount Park is not only impressing people locally but also on a state level.
State officials recently informed the city’s Parks Department on the successful application of a $200,000 grant, the second in consecutive years of the competitive award, according to Parks Director Larry Foster.
“We’re very proud that we’ve been successful two years in a row,” he said. “It a testimony of what a great project this is.”
The grant comes from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources REAP program. Resource Enhancement and Protection grants, as the program implies, invests in the enhancement and protection of the state’s natural and cultural resources.
